How we research
Long Term Visa Thailand is an independent guide to long-stay visas in Thailand. This page explains where our facts come from, how articles are made and how the site earns money, so you can judge what you read.
Figures come from official pages
Every fee, amount, age limit and length of stay on this site comes from an official source: the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Royal Thai embassy or consulate, the Thailand Board of Investment, the Immigration Bureau or the Thailand Privilege program's own site. We link the page next to the figure and show the date we read it.
Embassies publish their own lists and fees, and they do not always agree. When that happens we say so and name the embassies, rather than pick one figure and present it as the rule.
Agent reports are labelled
Some useful information only comes from visa agents and law firms, for example typical processing times. We include it only when it helps, and we mark it as "agents report" so you can tell it apart from official rules.
How articles are written
Articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. Before anything is published, every figure is checked against the linked official page, and anything we could not confirm is either removed or labelled as unconfirmed. We use AI because it lets a small team cover more questions; the checking is what makes an article worth reading.
Not legal advice
Nothing here is legal advice. Visa rules depend on your nationality, where you apply and your situation, and they change. When you send an enquiry, a partner law firm in Phuket confirms what applies to you.
How the site earns money
We may receive a referral fee from the partner law firm if you apply through it. That does not change what we write about the visas: the guides cover the retirement visa, DTV and LTR as fully as Thailand Privilege, including when another visa is the better fit. Details are on the disclosure page.
Found a mistake?
Tell us through the enquiry form and name the page. We check the official source again and correct the page if we got it wrong.
